Success: everyone wants it, few achieve it. Success is subjective. It could mean obtaining an education, being able to take over the family, achieving one’s life goals, or making the most money. Because it is subjective, it has the tendency to be considered wrong. A person may be successful, but depressed and have no sign of happiness in life, or he or she could make horrible decisions that destroy his or her path of success. Although one could be thought of as successful, it is impossible to achieve complete success in every aspect of life. One so focused on obtaining an education might let every other aspect of their life rot, resulting in failures. It could be achieved in many ways that do not involve money. Feeling loved by loved ones is a great contributor to happiness. Many believe that finding a significant other is part of finding success, which might be changing for the coming generations because they are more focused on other aspects of their life than their romantic lives. Many feel happiness when helping the less fortunate and providing them a better life or by just simply following their passions. Another way of enjoying life is to appreciate what is already given to you however being content takes a long time to achieve since one has to be willing to give up some materialistic things. Great way to obtain happiness is through family, they have for many of us been through every stage in life. Teachers and parents all command children to work hard to get good grades and one day be successful. I personally believe that it’s hardly possible to get good grades without working hard. Practice and hard work are the best way to get the skills needed to be successful. I cannot just sit on a couch all day and become successful. When I first immigrated to America, I did not know English and had to learn by working hard, which meant taking four English classes, watching American movies with English subtitles, and reading as much as one to two books a week. With that hard work, I was able to learn English in one year, even though I was told it would take on average three to five years. For example, to have a high paying job, one must work hard to provide the service or good in pristine condition. Also, being happy with what I have and keeping my relationships with others such as family or friends requires hard work. Failure is a huge part of hard work, without failing and working hard to succeed, I wouldn’t be successful in my life. A scientist does not automatically know what is in our DNA without running tests and working to figure out a pattern.
