However, not only was Jackie Robinson one of the most talented baseball players, when he was not making a difference on the field, he was making a difference in the world. Robinson played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, his skills rewarded him with Rookie of the Year, National League MVP, and a World Series Champion. During his career he completed 19 home runs and finished with a batting average of 3.11.

Ray’s mother was a sharecropper and his father was a mechanic, when Ray was little they moved to Greenville, Florida. In Mr. Charles early years of life he was a witness of his little brother drowning to death. In some type of way, Charles began to lose his eyesight right after the death of his little brother.
He was a great man and changed a lot of things in his life. Jackie Robinson was a man of great excellence, uncommon strength, a great athlete, and a man of civil rights. He played basketball, football, track, and baseball.
Robinson's life was devoted in ending segregation by playing the sport he loved most of all. By overcoming all the challenges on the baseball field from his teammates to the fans in the crowd booing him. He became the face of baseball and the person who changed the game for ever. After baseball he wasn't done there he became a great civil rights leader and helped many African Americans overcome challenges. When the bank was not treating the Africans fairly he stepped in by founding the free national bank which helped a ton of people out and made the bank fair for everyone.

Jackie Robinson is known to be one of the most influential people in baseball and in society. He eternally changed the aspect of American history. It was unusual to have a colored person be treated equally as a white person during the time of the 1900s. He was born in Cairo, Georgia in 1919 and later moved to Pasadena, California to pursue a better life. He came from a poor family of sharecroppers in the South and was the youngest of five.
He had a substantial influence on people so there were many people that “...traveled long distances to see him enter the Baseball Hall of Fame.” (Herman, 2) It is a massive honor to get into the Hall of Fame and he was able to get in just six years after he retired. Because of the extraordinary way Robinson was playing his first year, “He was named Rookie of the Year - the first one ever.” (Herman, 81) Since Robinson showed astonishing skills as a rookie, there was a new award made that year to be given to the person who played the best as a rookie, which was Jackie Robinson in 1947.

Jackie Robinson not only made impacts on the field that were monumental, but he made impacts off the field that were equally as important. Jackie helped presidents get elected, get kids off the streets and into the most prestigious schools there is, and most importantly he broke the black color barrier in baseball. Jackie Robinson is one of the most influential people to ever live, he did things that people would dream about, he stood up for what he believed. To begin, Jackie’s biggest accomplishment was breaking the black color barrier on baseball, “ Jackie Robinson broke through the color barrier that kept blacks out of the Major League Baseball [MLB].
His immense work ethic and determination proved how he persevered under extraordinary circumstances. Robinson has received numerous awards including his long list of accolades in the MLB, but he has also achieved awards for his contributions outside of baseball, such as the presidential medal of freedom and the congressional gold medal. This further demonstrates his commitment to never giving up on the goals he set out for, making his success inevitable. Since then, the world has become a much better place for people of color in the United States. Robinson should be recognized not only for the goals he has accomplished but also for how he accomplished them.
He was a big part in the fight for equal rights. Jackie Robinson took so much abuse on the field because of his race that it gave him mental breakdowns. These breakdowns sometimes took days to recover from but he went through all of that so other people would have better opportunities. But this didn’t just go on for one season, Robinson had to deal with that racism for about two years before he was really accepted as a “respected” baseball player. (Kuhn,web) and (Wilson,web).
Jackie has been an inspiration to all blacks around the world, for his determination even when times were tough, always standing up for his rights. As said in a past article, “Jackie had a huge part to play in how Americans thought about racial integration.” (Novak) He made Americans realize that African Americans could play with whites in the big leagues and be able to deal with the controversy that comes with it.
