Everyone has at least littered once in their life whether it be seeds or plastic . A Couple of Really Neat Guys shows that people in this world are fine with littering even if it means it will cost them. Some people will only fix themselves if someone speaks up first. Dave Barry’s story A Couple of Really Neat Guys is a low level comedy that uses hyperbole and comic situation to convey the idea that littering is bad for the environment and people know that, but still do it. To begin, humans are hard to understand. After a person is told not to do something that will cause a negative outcome they do it again. The author Dave Barry uses hyperbole to exaggerate the help that Captain Tidy and Neatness Man did for the city of Miami. When Dave and his optometrist dressed up as superheroes this might have reminded people of when comic book characters dressed up and try to be superheroes. In the text it states “We assembled costumes consisting of the aforementioned red tights (size triple-extra large), plus red Superman-style boots, plus blue shorts and shirts with our superhero names” (Barry 326). In comics kids dress up as superheroes with whatever they have in their closet and try to look cool. This second quote shows that Captain Tidy and Neatness Man had everything they needed to pursue this job “We were on a mission. We rented a black Tidymobile”. (Barry 326). This shows that Dave Barry and his optometrist really took this seriously to go to this extent with being a superhero. These quotes use comic situation because most comics have people dress up as childish superheroes with their blanket cape and go around telling people rules.
