All Quiet on the Western Egg Nick was initially and justifiably suspicious of Gatsby, a shady entrepreneur made rich through unspoken criminal means which fed his life goal to win over his lover, a wife of another man. However, over time Nick's doubts become aggrandizement for Gatsby and the steadfastness with which he holds onto his dream. By the end of the novel, Nick concludes that Gatsby had gone through all this trouble to become who he is so that he could one day win back the love of his life and make it out all right in the end. "Alright" means that Gatsby turns out better than the other people who corrupt the American Dream. He is not like everyone else who spends their money on lavishness for the sake of it, he spends his money on a dream he follows for a long time, but when the dream dies he still hopes, even to death. …show more content…
