Maneuvering child and adult care options can sometimes be overwhelming for any family, and additional deliberation and consideration must be given when deciding care options for those with special needs. It is imperative for many families with children with special needs to hire more than one caregiver. This can make the search for a caregiver more stressful and time consuming. Parents and family members have to choose different caregivers to remedy their child’s every need, while also tending to other endeavors in the house, such as work, bills, other children, etc.

I have family members in 3 different states, which all pay different fees for adult health care for a special needs family member. Home care aides from a licensed agency are paid on average $19 an hour. The average cost for adult day care is about $15,300 per year (ranging from about 7,750 to $32,500 per year).
