Landon Vandegriffe Ms. Ward English III 5 May 2024 1984 Is Not Theologian of The Cross In the book 1984 Winston, the main character, does not show qualities of a theologian of the cross. Winston from 1984 was not a theologian of the cross. He does not believe in God and he thinks that there is something deeper in a man's spirit. Winston inspires me to be a theologian of the cross due to the fact that he is not a Christian and how he does a bunch of bad stuff which makes me want to do the opposite so I can be a theologian of the cross, unlike him. I will live as a theologian of the cross, unlike how Winston lived because he committed adultery and went against the government, and I will show how to be a theologian of the cross. In the 1 Chronicles 29:12 it also states this: ”Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all”. Ezra is saying in this verse that God has power over all of us and he rules us, so we must obey His law in order to be a follower of Christ. Also in the Bible, premarital sex is a sin. Hebrews 13:4 proves that it is a sin: “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”. In this Bible verse it is saying that we should wait until marriage to have sex, and if we don’t wait until marriage, we have sinned and God will judge us for it. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 also says premarital sex is a sin: “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified; that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God”. That Bible verse was saying how we need to avoid sexual immorality, which means we need to not have sexuality until marriage. This verse reminds me of the Hebrew verse before, and that is why I like
