The book “3,096 Days in Captivity” by Natascha Kampusch, immediately grabs the readers attention with the precise detail of her eight and a half years of being kidnapped. The story of Natascha takes place in Vienna, Austria, Natascha was born on February 17, 1988. Through out time Natascha would travel with her father to stay in his vacation home, she describes him as a loving father who has his arms open to her, but her father does get carried away with visiting the bars and socializing with friends at times. As time went on Natascha caught on to her kidnapper being mentally ill. At this time Natascha was 10 years old. As days and weeks passed the kidnapper has enforced rules, Natascha had to ask to stand up,sit, speak, use the restroom. She was locked into a basement below the garage with no windows or natural light. As the kidnapper slowly started abusing her physically and mentally. As Natascha stated a daily routine was established and routine meals, and a routine bath, she got used to him seeing her naked over time. The kidnapper has told her numerous times that if she isn't good, he’ll have to do some nasty things. As the harassment occurred, Natascha was consumed with flashbacks from when her mom would hug her with a towel after a bath. Nerdy two years into the abduction, he kidnapper decided to change her identity, telling her she wasn't Natascha anymore, she chose the name “Bibiane” and soon after the kidnapper released his name to her.
