Givens’ was able to see patterns in employees as well as understand how each one viewed their job. Givens also noticed that their were not job descriptions- which left employees confused on what they were and were not allowed to do. Givens however did not decided to define their roles alone- she invited her employees to make these descriptions along side her. The critical review on the cover letter and resume, written by Jenny Peterson, uses ethos, pathos, and logos to argue that she would be a perfect match for the position of counsellor at Dayjob Ltd. Ms. Peterson clearly describes her previous positions, and experience in similar types of employment, particularly as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, under the Attorney General Department. Underlying several key strengths in related fields, Peterson illustrates her abilities and academically acknowledged qualifications in the counselling pathway. Using multiple examples in the types of casework she has previously experienced, Peterson distinctively demonstrates to the hiring manager, Matthew Gordon, why she is perfectly suited to the offered
Facebook page of the Alamo Area Branch of the National Association of Social Workers - Texas Chapter provides the followers with links to several interesting articles about issues related to health care in Texas. Another link comes from “The Texas Tribune” and explains the reasons for Medicaid expansion in Texas, such as Children Defense Fund and rural hospitals that rely on federal help in order to serve large uninsured populations there. Other theme relevant for social work practice relates to possible reductions in Social Security Disability Insurance for its beneficiaries in 2016.

Hello Professor and Classmates, As a human service professional I would have to intercede differently with a client who has a diagnosis of AIDS from a client who has been diagnosed as HIV positive for many reasons. HIV is a virus that gradually attacks the immune system, which is our body’s natural defense against illness. AIDS is a syndrome caused by the HIV virus. It is when a person’s immune system is too weak to fight off many infections.
Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with areas of study in Psychology and Criminal Justice. A Bachelor’s degree in these areas of study, can open the doors to many different career paths ranging from human services to research to counseling. Personally, I would like to seek a career that will allow me to have an impact on other people’s lives. For this reason, I choose to explore the career of a Foster Care Placement Specialist. To better understand the, job responsibilities, employment requirements and pros and cons of this career I decided to seek counsel from my friend, Rachel Zimmerman, a Family Services Specialist with the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Rational for the observations The rational for using these observations retrospectively is to make sense of the whole person Amy’s life history, looking over her notes, why had she not engaged historically? Why the resistance? I wanted to understand how and why this was happening not just respond to the immediate crisis, rehouse and decontaminate her home for the behavioural pattern to be repeated. This method allowed me to explore theories of human growth and development and evaluate them with criticality (Monette et. 2014).
This week I met with a social worker at Cherry Health which is located a few blocks from Heart of the City. When I met with the social worker we did a role playing exercise. She played a client that was experiencing depression and sadness. In addition, she role played as a client that she typically work with at the agency and I role played as the therapist. I enjoyed the role play because I was able to receive feedback about my progress.
Why did you choose that agency and the relevance for your future clients? Being an active duty military spouse, the military lifestyle has become a large part of my identity and I belong within the military community. Working for the Airman and Family Readiness Center as a Social Worker is very much a “calling” for me. When I was a new spouse without a support system, the stresses related to the military were much more than I ever imagined. Now that I am a seasoned spouse who will soon earn her MSW, I really want to be there for the new military members at the best of my abilities.

Over the semester I have learned many new aspects of social work that have helped deepen my understanding of what social work is really about. This course has taught me things that will help me become a better person and will also help me with my future working with children. Self reflection is a key skill to have when working in social work. We need to understand how we are, and our social location, influence everything we do with social work. My beliefs and values would be beneficial for being a social worker because I have a caring no judgment, personality that allows me to be a neutral and to listen to people.
