In this stage, Campbell talks about physical interactions with others. Campbell explains that, “doing something someone else wants us to do is slave morality” (Osbon, 8). Campbell’s primary goal in this section was to force his audience to understand the concept of listening to the meaning of one’s words rather than the words themself. He explains that the ‘what’ that is speaking is often “pride, malice, or ignorance” (Osbon, 8). Joseph Campbell himself is a very popular author who is often regarded as a scholarly author. He is a Columbia University graduate who taught at Sarah Lawrence College. Campbell also wrote several novels, some of which are quoted within this work. Diane Osbon may not attain the same scholarly background of Campbell, but this book has gained her much popularity, and has earned a spot in the top twenty selling and rated books on Amazaon’s website. Furthermore, the publisher, HarperPernial, is one of the many imprints of the HarperCollins publishing company. The HarperCollins publishing company is one of the five most reputable publishers in the world. The credibility from this source is worth noting, given that Osbon attended the Esalen Institute Seminar, and is directly quoting Campbell. It should also be noted that she was an avid lama breeder as her primary practice, but regardless of the fact, this source can be utilized for research in various
