The author used Alcatraz as the setting,because they wanted to include something about Al Capone,so thought a book about Alcatraz would be perfect for the setting.The author also made alcatraz as the setting because it is such a well known place and the most well known prison in the U.S.A reason to becak this claim up is because the author seemed to know quite a bit about alcatraz to make a book about alcatraz really immerse you.The author knew quite a bit because most of the descriptions in the book are found in other sources.
