When Amir travels to Pakistan to visit Rahim Khan in the novel, his first endeavor at redemption is very clear when he agrees to travel to Kabul to find Hassan’s son. Amir discloses, “A way to end the cycle . With a little boy. An orphan. Hassan’s son.
“In the end, I was a Pashtun and he was a Hazara, I was Sunni and he was Shi’a, and nothing was ever going to change that” (Hosseini 25). The guilt that Amir carries with him about that event is what drives the novel.
Amir immediately felt guilty for Hassan dying. He believed he had been the cause, by forcing him out of the house when he was a child. He also understood why Baba treated Hassan like he was his own son. Amir was horrified of the way he had treated Hassan. He also found out that Hassan had a son and he was in danger.
After he learns of Hassan’s death and his orphaned son, he feels the guilt of his past all over again. When Rahim Khan asks him to go and find his son so he can be given a better life, he rejects at first because of the trip’s dangerous nature. After he talks to Rahim Khan, he tells him the Hassan not only his childhood best friend but his half brother. Amir tries to help Hassan's own son, Sorab, who is his nephew that is locked in a orphanage. He ends up finding out that a taliab took Sorab. He is shocked when he finds where he is. He finds out that the head person there is Assef.
Amir finds himself seeking redemption with his father and with Hassan. Amir and his father don’t have the best relationship. At the beginning of the novel, Amir tells us that he understands why his father doesn’t like him. He says it is because Amir killed his wife during childbirth and now he resents him for it.
Therefore I think Hassan knew he had let Amir know that he would always find a friend in Kabul. In doing that Hassan showed Amir that forgiving is important and never too late. The last character to influence Amir was Baba because he shaped Amir into the man he is. In the letter that Rahim Khan left for Amir when he arrived back in Pakistan in the hospital, he reads, “When he saw you , he saw himself.”
Amir learned from Rahim Khan that Hassan has a son and he needs Amir
Hassan and his dad Ali work at home for Amir and his dad.but when hassan got raped by some pashtuns, Amir went through some internal conflicts. There are many internal conflicts that characters go through during the book. Amirs biggest internal conflict was when he was battling against himself of weather he should go and save hassan because after all he is a very close friend of his. Amir is the main focus of the novel; it basically starts with his childhood all the way until he’s an adult. He was one of the most wealthy people in Afghanistan, until the Russian’s take over later on. His father, Baba, is very respected by others. Baba never paid much attention to his son, also his honesty with him was very poor. Therefore, Amir would spend most of his childhood with his servant, Hassan.
Amir’s father was not found of Amir but of Hassan Amir did not know Hassan was his brother. Amir always tried to impress baba. The way Hassan used to play and run after the kite Amir named him The Kite Runner. When baba died he still could face and talk to Hassan when he went to his home town he found out that the Taliban’s had killed Hassan and his wife and their son was in the orphan alone, Amir planned to adopt his son so that Hassan can forgive him and so that he can atone his sin. He always tried to be friends Hassan’s son but he missed his parents and was sad he took him home and treated him as his own son as Amir could not have one of his
This also made their relationship a little shady because Hassan considered him as a friend while Amir did not.
