Billy and Nell married September 5, 1888. Billy signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. During this time God was calling him into ministry, therefore he asked to be released from his contract with the Phillies. Once he was released, a Cincinnati team offered him, even more, money. Wilbur Chapman and converted hundreds of people. A man in Garner, Iowa asked if he would lead their revival. He said yes but went through many struggles. The tent he was preaching in got flattened by snow in a snow storm. This caused him to use temporary tabernacles. Nell agreed to be part of Billy’s ministry team and they found a housekeeper named Nora to take care of their children. They had a revival at a great tabernacle in New York City and on the last night, they were given a love offering of $124,000. Billy gave it all to the Red Cross and some other World War 1
