According to author Dean Obeidallah in his article “Can Amy Schumer defeat ISIS?” (CNN, April 18, 2016) comedy is something that should be deployed in the fight versus ISIS. The article demonstrates that involving ISIS in comedy will take away their power and show ISIS that people aren’t afraid of them. “It’s like if you speak violence, you speak their language”. In the study Obeidallah states that stand-up comedy won’t take out ISIS by itself, but rather that comically ridiculing ISIS should be used as another tool in countering the terror group. He also continues to write that “the last thing ISIS terrorist want is us laughing at them”. In the study the author refers to the Saudi comedian Nasser al-Qasabi whom performed a comedy sketch accusing ISIS for being hypocritical morons. On the other hand, it takes a lot of courage to mock ISIS when you live in the Middle East. Obeidallah writes that as a result for mocking the terror group the comedian was publicly threatened to get killed. However, that would not affect his way of fighting against the terror group. The author is encouraging American comedians to use comedy as a weapon, and believes that comedy can help us deal with scary things, in this case the ISIS propaganda
