In John Steinbeck’s novel, Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck represents the hardships of the Great Depression, to convey the bleak way of life during this time. In chapter seven, Steinbeck employs how manipulative and desperate people were to change their way of life, with the representation, of presumptuous salesman.
