David Wallace urges and encourages his audience to think about the foods we consume, primarily lobsters in “Consider the Lobster”. Wallace draws the audience to a familiar touristic site, where crowds of families and friends would enjoy the summer days, the Main Lobster Festival. Although, it may seem like a great event to attend to he proposes the question, “is it alright to boil a sentient creature alive just for our gustatory pleasure?” I find it amusing and appalling that lobster, which was once a poor man’s food is now a luxury dish.
