The book “Dateline Troy” by Paul Fleischman turns the Trojan War into an occasion for social studies, with the result that his audience may have to sacrifice some of the pleasures of reading in exchange for a fresh approach to history or current events. In Greek mythology, Helen of Troy also known as Helen of Sparta, or simply Helen, was said to have been the most beautiful woman in the world, she was also married to King Menelaus of Sparta. On the tenth day when the Troy visited Sparta to make peace, Helen runs away secretly with Prince Paris of Troy, resulting in the Trojan War. Legend has is that Helen was under Aphrodite spell to fall in love with Prince Paris of Troy which resulted in having the Trojan War.
Helen was set to be the most beautiful women in the world, and she was the Queen of Sparta. Her husband King Menelaus was more involved with his brother Agamemnon ,who enjoys conquering land. More so Troy were tired of having firing feuds with Sparta. Uncontrollable the love between Helen and Paris caused many downfalls for Troy. Menelaus was furious on his new findings coming back from his father’s funeral to seek his adoring wife leaving with Prince Paris of Troy. Menelaus the King of Sparta wanted his wife returned safely to Sparta so he can handle the difficulties with Helen his wife. Paris refused to relinquish his one true love to her death. Paris and Menelaus fought for Helen’s love, but Menelaus more so fought for his honor of losing his wife. While the fight between Paris and Menelaus, Paris was almost defeated. Aphrodite saves Paris, by releasing the strap that was choking him. Then while Menelaus had lost his balance Aphrodite made Paris disappeared by making him invisible.
