I. Overview A. The issue I chose was Deflategate, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots. Deflategate was a controversy involving the Patriots where they were accused of deliberately deflating footballs in order to gain an unfair advantage. B. This impacted the organized because it led to a four game suspension of Tom Brady, $1 million fine for the Patriots, and the loss of a 1st and 4th round draft pick. II. Organization A. The sole vision, mission, and goal of the New England Patriots is to win games and championships. The role and power of the governing body’s impact on the effectiveness of the organization cannot be understated. When it comes to ownership, Robert Kraft provides the front office with any and every financial need the team might need in order to build a successful franchise. For the front office, Bill Belichick and Nick Caserio, the Director of Player Personnel, provide the knowledge and expertise of finding and building the personnel side of the football team. He also says that he provided access to every full and part time employee that the league’s representatives requested to speak with and produced every communication device that they requested to search during the three days they were there. In his closing statement, Kraft says, “Our organization will continue to cooperate throughout the league’s investigation. Meanwhile, our players, coaches and staff will continue to focus on our preparations for Super XLIX and the many challenges we face as we prepare for the Seattle Seahawks.” A few days later when the team touched down in Arizona for the super bowl, Kraft gave a statement to the media, “I have spoken with Coach Belichick. I have spoken with Tom Brady. I have taken the time to understand to the best of my abilities what goes on in the preparation of game day footballs. And I want to make it clear that I believe, unconditionally, that the New England Patriots have done nothing inappropriate in the process or in violation of NFL rules.” He also goes on to say that it bothers him greatly
