In Robert Kurson’s book, “Shadow Divers,” he reveals how a group of divers solve one of the last mysteries of World War II. Captain Bill Nagle owns the Seeker which is a charter boat that people can rent to take them to shipwrecks. Nagle is a world renowned deep sea shipwreck diver, because he pushes the limits on how far and where divers can go. Nagle has explored some of the most dangerous shipwrecks such as the Andrea Doria and Texas Tower. He has also retrieved various souvenirs from wrecks such as china dishes and the boat’s bell, but Nagle has massive respect for the history of sunken watercraft.

I am reading a marvelous book of the I Survived books called I survived the Sinking of the Titanic by: Lauren Tarshis. I love the series of this books they are so good and most of the time filled with lots of mysteries. Most of the time the book is written in a Third Person…Limited omniscient because the author Lauren is talking as the main character George. The setting takes place as they said the unsinkable ship “The Titanic” It took place in the 1912 of April 15 and was one of the most horrific thing that had ever happened.
Captain Jack Aubrey’s ship HMS Surprise is attacked behind by the French privateer ship the Acheron aka the Phantom. The HMS surprise is hit with cannon balls, but Captain Aubrey is not fazed by the attack, and he tells all of the midshipmen and lieutenants what to do in order to save the ship and raise morale at the same time. For Example Captain Aubrey tells: Mr. Hollar, Boatswain, to get the sharp shooters ready to attack the Acheron, Mr. Calamy a Midshipman to keep the cannons firing at the Acheron, and he tells midshipmen Mr. Boyle to raise the flag. In “The Art of Drowning” by Billy Collins, he inquires the thought of life flashing before your eyes when you are reaching an imminent death. When the character leaps underneath the surface to his aqueous grave, a fast depiction of a long life is rotated through his mind. Mr. Collins explains how weird it is that time crushed into such a short film in the final seconds of life. Collins reverie of an ultimate instant when all corners of the existence resided come together for an impressive production, a sit down gathering where all moments are commended in great detail and discussion. Appalled by the moment, is as quick as the time it takes for the oxygen to exhaust in a moribund, drowning man.

Hardy’s poem consists of eleven stanzas each with three lines, along with a strict rhyme scheme of AAA, where the last word of each line rhymes with that of all the other lines in the stanza. This rigid pattern enhances the formal tone of Hardy’s work and suits his purpose well, for the poem is a respectful elegy to those who were on board the ship and even the ship itself. On the other hand, Slavitt’s poem, composed of five stanzas, is free verse, with hardly any fixed structure. The poem almost seems like a written form of everyday speech, with a combination of questions, exclamations, and statements that create a conversational tone for the poem. This style fits “Titanic” in that Slavitt is much more assertive in his message than Hardy, for he aims to show the pitfalls of materialism, the lesson acquire from the sinking of the Titanic.
In her article, Bethel compared our culture to an iceberg. This simile (comparison) was noted several times. She says “Imagine culture as an iceberg,” “But like an iceberg, most of culture exists below the surface,” and “Like an iceberg, culture exists below the surface” (Bethel, paragraph 6). For all those that has watched The Titanic, you should have remember that this huge cruise ship was sunken by an iceberg. Thus, one who has looked closely at an iceberg, would know that only about 10% of an iceberg peaks at the surface and about 90% is below the water.
