Don Nerbas’ book Dominion of Capital: The Politics of Big Business and the Crisis of the Canadian Bourgeoisie is a collection of biographies of five individuals: Howard P. Robinson, Charles Dunning, Sir Edward Beatty, Sam McLaughlin and C.D Howe. Using these biographies, Don Nerbas provided insight on the Canadian big business and showed the audience how it was considered a crisis during the time period. The book is set up into two parts in which the first part talks about how the Canadian big business turned into a crisis while the second part speaks about continentalism and the managerial ethic. This book sheds light upon the various events, which took place in the different sectors and regions of the economy and country, which contributed to the development of the political outlook and strategies of the country’s business strategies. The author also talks about the relations between the government and business in Canada during the changeover period between the uncertain future of the twentieth century and the entrenched predictions of the National Policy. Don Nerbas also proposes that plenty of Canadian businessmen indicated skepticism with regards to democracy. Don Nerbas may have used a singular method to support his argument but he managed to carry his point forward and provide the reader with a clear of picture of the events that occurred between the years 1914-1947. He provided the reader with additional information about that year so that he/she could gain some insight as to what happened during those years. Nerbas made sure that all his work was properly cited so that it did not seem as though some of the information was made up. His work was very well structured and detailed making sure that the reader was not left questioning as to who that specific individual was or when a specific event
