This weekend I finished the book Eldest by Christopher Paolini, the second book in the Inheritance series. When I read the first couple chapters in the book, I could definitely tell that this book would involve less adventure and more politics surrounding the war in Alagaesia. Because of all the questions Christopher Paolini left unanswered in the end of the first book, I was definitely ready for some big reveals and heart stopping plot twist. Unfortunately, the beginning of the book didn't reveal anything, which definitely kept me reading to find my answers. This never occurred in the first book and I had mixed feelings about it. Roren was a very minor character in the first book, so it was surprising to find his perspective getting added. The first few chapters that were in Roren’s point of view I honestly didn't enjoy. Everything that was going on around him was very bleak and boring, but as the story of Roren continued I actually started to favor his adventure over Eragon's. I loved how Roren started out with such a simple life and then everything ran out of control. It is very relatable and added a great depth to the story. It seems his adventure at Carvahall really showed how Eragon's decision to keep Saphira affected everything he touched. For example, Eragon’s decision killed their dad, allowed Katerina (Roren’s girlfriend) to be captured, and destroyed the town, which forced Roren to lead them to Surda. Roren added so many different twist and problems that need to be solved. Since Roren made it to Surda and found Eragon, we can assume that Eragon will help Roren find Katerina. Because of this, we know that we will see more of Roren in the next book as he travels with Eragon. I am very pleased with the way Christopher Paolini wrote Roren. She really showed off Rorens trait of leadership towards the end of the book when he lead the villagers through the Boar’s eye whirlpool.In short, I really couldn’t be happier with the addition of Roren to the
