Comparing the presentation of ideas in Enrique’s Journey and Children of the Drug Wars by Sonia Nazario. Sonia Nazario, an award-winning journalist and author, is commonly known for her biography "Enrique's Journey" which describes the struggles of a Honduran boy fleeing to America in search of his mother. Along with her biography, Sonia Nazario has written several editorials with the common goal of informing people of the risks immigrant children face and advocating for change. While both writings have a similar purpose, the way they present information and ideas to readers, differs greatly. In her biography “Enrique’s Journey” Nazario follows the terrifying journey that a young Honduran boy, Enrique, takes in hopes of rejoining his mother in the United States. Nazario provides details that appeal to readers' emotions in an attempt to persuade them, such as “These children are facing threats similar to the forceful conscription of child soldiers by warlords in Sudan or during the civil war in Bosnia. Being forced to sell drugs by narcos is no different from being forced into military service”. Throughout her editorial, Nazario also includes research derived evidence to back up her opinions about reforms needed in US refugee policies, she states, “The United States should also increase to pre-9/11 levels the number of refugees we accept to 90,000 from the current 70,000 per year and, unlike in recent years, actually admit that many.” The information Nazario includes along with the language she uses, persuades readers to rethink opinions and encourages a call of
