Feed is a dystopian future of the world, it's full of excitement of the teenagers of the time. The criticism Anderson is making about society is we are more interested in materials, technology and media than the world around us. Anderson makes references to how the earth is crumbling around them and how people are starting to be affected physically because of the pollution. In Feed, Titus is so connected to his feed that when it is turned off he doesn’t know what to do. With Titus’s feed being off he doesn't know how to be a functional person, it is really weird for him to be not “bored”. Titus lacks individuality, he and his friends were defined as people through their feeds. They hardly know how to function without being able to look up things or chat with their friends through the feeds. They don’t realize that they are controlled by their feeds. They realized that they are so reliant on them to entertain them that when they had them turned off they had to find a way to entertain themselves.
