In the article, “Football Major, Basketball Minor?” by Ben Strauss (2015) asserts that a common situation that athletes in college engage and typically focus on practicing sports more than spend time on the general classes. Although most of colleges focus on the general knowledge and basic education, Ben mentioned that having a curriculum constructed around sports area and getting credit from the varsity sports is also considered as a good way for sports programs. Furthermore, he points out that many arguments from several professors separately, they all provided positive aspects of students spending more time on sports practicing in college life. The author further states that some coaches gave points to student easily based on their athletic behavior. What's More, he also provides that some professors have different opinions on the purpose of setting up to obtain academic credit for being an athlete in college.
