This story takes place on the streets of New York City. Barbara Lazear Ascher tells us a very detailed story as she walks the streets of New York, observing the actions of everyone around her. She first begins to observe a homeless man and a woman pushing her child in a stroller. She watches as the man approaches the women with his eyes on the child. The women grippes the stroller tightly and then reaches for her purse.
The common belief is that the grass is greener on the other side. In this excerpt from “Staying Put: Making A Home in A Restless World” Scott Sanders utilizes an philosophical tone to argue that it is not necessarily true. In his response to Salman Rushdie’s essay, Sanders argues that the better thing is to instead make a place home for a lifetime, and he uses an assortment of rhetorical devices to develop his claim. Stagnation is intolerable, movement is manageable, is a common Western belief. In his essay, Sanders use irony in lines 3-8 to allow the reader to see how he views this conviction.
The article “Homeless in America” is written by Thomas L. Friedman, and from the Opinion Pages in New York Times. In the article, Friedman express his opinion and attitude toward Donald Trump being elected as the president of the United States. In the article Friedman express his unpleasantness toward the newly elected president being Trump. One of them being his fear of the country breaking apart, owing to the population being divided beyond repair, which eventually would result in that the national government would stop function.
The story “homeless” relates two different aspects, home and identity. The story starts when the author met Ann, a homeless woman. The author identifies the woman as “somebody” for she had a house in which it, home, signifies the identity of someone. For the author, she views home as a place of comfort, privacy and security. The story describes how the society’s perspective on home gradually changes for during the old days, home is where a person live, work and even die, while nowadays, the society defines home as a temporary living place until someone could or need to move to other places.
People become homeless for number of reasons such as job loss, gambling, debt, relationship ends and substance abuse. The purpose of this essay is to persuade the readers why we need to end homelessness in America. Throughout the world millions of children, men, and women are dressed in rags walking the streets, often talking to stranger and holding I will work for food sign at a traffic light. Many homeless people have a big heart or very kind to others. The reason I say that because if you give them money or food they going tell you thank you or say a prayer.

Going hours, days, weeks, or even months without food can lead to starvation, which causes the body to dysfunction and can also leads to death. The purpose of this article was to portray how the american society functions. Day to day we see any things along the streets and one of which includes homeless people. Homelessness is a very sensitive topic because many do not really think about it too much. Thousands of us walk by and simply ignore them and think that someone else will help them out. Fact of the matter is that everyone basically thinks like that and this problem is never going to get better.

Most of them were families escaping political and religious oppressions from their native land while many others sought to attain financial prosperity as well. However, the influx of immigrants who were seeking new opportunities in developing regions of the United States created overcrowdings in towns resulting in the fewer dwelling for the men, women, and children, to inhabit. The deficiency of inadequate dwellings left many living on the streets and begging for money. Health-related illness began to rise along with poor safety regulation, all of which contributed to physical disabilities and deaths among the men who were the breadwinners.

Homelessness is a crisis across America which the government has overlooked. Unfortunately, 12% of Americans are considered homeless; on any night there about 554,000 people experiencing homelessness in the United States (Day). Homelessness is an issue that is apparent throughout many societies around the world, although it seems to be an exceptional struggle in the United States. Among the top homeless cities in the world, New York City ranks the second highest on the list, with Los Angeles following at a close third. Other American cities in the high ranks include Boston, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Phoenix.
I had never really cared about the homeless. I mean, I decorated the occasional brown paper bag, and had made enough “You are strong!” cards to last a lifetime. I cared enough to put effort into my artwork, but everything I did was detached to a certain extent. I knew that not everyone was fortunate enough to live like I did, but had never met a real homeless person; my only knowledge of the subject was what mainstream media had taught me: homeless people were everywhere, and needed our help.

The homelessness narrative in the Module 3 elucidates multiple challenges that may arise during a group research project: 1) the definition of homelessness, 2) there is no method to capture the full extent of the epidemic, and 3) there is no single contributing factor to the cause of homelessness. A myriad of government programs mentioned in Perl’s congressional research study focus on distinctive homeless populations, yet there is no common definition for homelessness across the gamut of federal legislation (2015). Moreover, the goal should be to define the scope of the study before discussing the statistics behind homelessness and the related factors that contribute to the condition.
In the literature I found, some of the articles talk about how people view the homeless and panhandlers. In The Stigma of Homelessness, Phelan et al. finds that a poor man described as homeless is viewed more harshly than a described as domiciled (332). It is viewed more negatively that a man is homeless than just poor. Although people sometimes view the homeless negatively Tompsett et al. found in this article Homelessness in the United States “ most other Americans remain concerned about homelessness and may be supportive of policy changes and structurally targeted interventions,” (60).
