In the article, “How Junk Food Can End Obesity,” David Freedman believes that food from health food restaurants and grocery stores can have the same amount of calories and fat that is in fast food. He also states that fast food is making healthier options for those people who can’t afford the healthier food at the restaurants and grocery stores. Many of the fast food restaurants have made changes. I think that is what Freedman is trying to get across. Because of the changes, more people can afford to eat healthier.

Even though Freedman is asking a question, his point is that there must be a reason McDonald’s isn’t saying anything when they are faced with criticism. Freedman is surely right eaters are less willing to try something healthy when they know it’s healthy because of what studies suggest. Freedman himself writes,
“Recent studies suggest that calorie counts placed on menus have a negligible effect on food choices, and that the less-health-conscious might even use the information to steer clear of low calorie fare . . . ” (Freedman, 527).
Basically, Freedman is saying that when the public knows what the food is made of and what the dietary values are they may stay away from the healthy options. The effect that it has the opposite of what the restaurant wants. I agree that stating what is in the food is doing the opposite for people, a point that needs emphasizing since so many people believe that it is helping people wanting to make healthier choices. Besides, the consumers are worried how the food will taste if they see on the menu that it’s
