In the book “In The Time Of The Butterflies” written by Julia Alvarez, it is about 4 sisters that join a revolution in a form of resistance towards their “Republic Dictator” Raphael Trujillo. Which leads their legacy to reign in the Dominican Republic for years to come. There are 3 ways the Mirabal sisters resisted Trujillo, 1 being Minerva slapped him. 2 Minerva and Maria Theresa refused their prison pardons and 3 Patrica joins the revolution against him for her religious beliefs. Minerva slapping Trujillo is an act of resistance against his oppressive and over usage of power.
