He explains how not only does the media just supply the information to the users, it also morphs the thoughts that flow in people’s minds. Previous habits such as reading are slowly being affected, but only few have noticed the change. For instance, when surfing the web people skim the articles they’re reading and merely go from link to link. Carr talks about how easy it is to research and find things on the internet within minutes maybe even seconds.

Carr discusses his view on the whole idea of online readings and most of the information available to the world being viewed online through a search engine like Google. He also goes into thorough detail explaining how he believes that technology is becoming more advanced and smarter than its creators. In Carr’s article, he will explain all that he believes is wrong with technology in today’s society and how dumbed down it has made us.
In Nicholas Carr’s, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” article, he goes on to express his viewpoint on how Google is turning towards the use of artificial intelligence. Carr conveys his opinion on Google’s mindset by using credible sources and personal experience of change to prove that Google is motivated by technology to try and fix problems by using artificial intelligence, but this is the actual problem. In his article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid” (2008), Nicholas Carr argues that the use of the internet has affected human beings to process information. For example, reading in front of a screen and reading a printed book is not the same thing. Carr supports his assertion by his own and others experiences reading and searching information online and viewing how it has negatively shaped their ability to read long texts. He states that he cannot concentrate reading a long piece for a certain amount of time without losing focus. His purpose is to is to warn the internet and technology users of the adverse mental effects that these devices have on individuals.

With the way the internet and its vast amount of information at the tip of our fingers has altered our ability to dive deep into readings. Whether it is for educational purposes or pleasure our ability to spend hours in a book have changed. Nicholas Carr’s article “Is Google Making Us Stupid” achieved its purpose because the examples he used from himself and others, the writing is clear easy to follow as he makes relevant references to the way other technologies have changed our way of thinking, his writing is objective.
In “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by Nicolas Carr he enlightens us on how he feels that the internet is changing the way we think and process information. He tells us that he has experienced this and feels the reprogramming of his brain the most when he reads. He also uses the feedback and evidence from his colleagues to show the change patterns in other people. Carr uses present examples of how he feels that the internet is changing the way we thinking but he adds examples of history for example the invention of the clock and the way it has altered our behaviors. The author also brings in scientific studies to prove that there are changes happening to us because of the internet.
In the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid” written by Nicholas Carr, it talked about how Google and other technologies are changing the way we think and process information. This article starts out by talking about an instance where a person was almost killed by an artificial brain (Carr 731). The author talks about how over the years he believes that someone is changing his brain and the way that he thinks. The author gives examples of this by telling how he used to be able to read a long passage and keep attention to it but now he can’t keep focus for more than a few sentences (Carr 731).
In the article entitled "Is Google Making Us Stupid" , the author Nicholas Carr reviews how our use to the computer effected our thoughts and our reading habits. (Carr, 2008, July). I both agree and disagree with Carr's statements and point of view. I agree with the author that the internet clashed our concentration, but i disagree that its making us stupid. I agree with Carr that people who use the internet frequently tend to loose their concentration and have a lack of contemplation where he supported this by personal experience and studies.
Nicholas Carr whom wrote “Is Google Making Us Stupid” explains the negative consequences of the increasing presence of the internet in society’s everyday lives, and his predictions of their future. He explains how the internet is so embedded in their everyday lives that it is hard for society to imagine what life would be like without it. I agree with some of his points, such as how the internet has changed the way society reads which is consequently changing the way they think. Society may read more in this day in age than ever before, but it is a different type of reading, the majority of the reading consists of quickly scanning short articles on the internet while often simultaneously juggling different tasks.
In “Is Google Making Us Stupid? What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brain,” by Nicholas Carr, Carr discusses that people who use the web appear to struggle and have to challenge themselves twice as much to stay focused on long pieces of writing. In the reading, Carr says that he has a major problem being focused on a long text. He realized how the internet had detrimental effects on our brains and conflicted with our reading concentration. He mentions that reading a full text is almost impossible because our concentration drifts away.
