The song “Glory” by John Legend brings up the glory that many blacks in the 1930s wanted for their future generations. This generation has improved on receiving the glory that was unrealistic to some in the early 1930s, but is far from where it should be.
In the well-known novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the impact of the Jim Crow Laws on black rights in America has caused attacks to still occur in God's place of worship, innocent African-Americans are killed, voting to decrease in the black society and the amount of funds going into black school zones.
Black churches have always been a target as far as the deaths of innocent black christians.

The amount of money coming into black families was ridiculously low because they were not receiving proper education. For instance in To Kill A Mockingbird, “‘Where’d you go to school, Cal?’ asked Jem. ‘Nowhere. Let’s see now, who taught me my letters? It was Miss Maudie Atkinson’s aunt, old Miss Buford… [sayed Calpurnia]’”(Lee pdf 66).It was unfortunate that Calpurnia could not learn how to read and write in a school. As stated earlier, blacks would not receive proper education, holding them back from receiving high paying jobs. Not only did they not receive sufficient education then, but some schools today still do not receive adequate education. According to “Negro's ‘double consciousness’ in To Kill a Mockingbird” by Faeze Rezazade, “...racism makes it more difficult for black men [and women] to earn a living or spend their earnings as they will; it gives them poorer school facilities and restricted contact with cultured classes”. Racism should not be the primary reason that black people are not receiving high pay. The only reason that a person should not have a high income is if they choose not to get the required education.
