In order to initiate a change in an organization, a sense of urgency must be established which means creating a means for change. For the two companies, Kayak and Groupon, they each need to be examined to determine which company does something better than the other. This does not only apply to the customer side of things, but the overall company. Kayak may have a stronger ability of encouraging its employees to communicate and collaborate on more projects. While Groupon may have more strength in keeping their employees interested in working there and establishing a long career with the company. There will undoubtedly be problems throughout the change and to avoid a complete halt of the merge, the potential problems should be addressed so a possible solution can be established before it happens. These problems are more than just people related, it can concern the merge of technology, different management styles, and types of environment. One of said problems can involve the different sizes of the companies. Kayak has a much smaller workforce than that of Groupon so the workplace setting is much smaller. The teams are tinier and the employees are more accustomed to working in these small groups. The opposite can be said about Groupon because they have a much larger workforce. Their work environment is centered around more people and larger teams. These two different work settings have the potential to clash with one another and disrupt the productivity on both sides. Lastly, while both companies are overseas, Groupon and Kayak differ in some of the countries they are stationed in. With each new country that the company works with, Kayak and Groupon’s employees may not only have a language barrier, but there most definitely be a cultural barrier too. Not to mention that each company needs to be informed about local businesses, and as with every business overseas, the companies must understand the currency rate of each
