Many men still have dignity, and are perceived as strong. While women are perceived as vulnerable and fragile, posing can indicate what the advertisement is trying to convey. All of these ads are fake and deliberately construed to make women look thinner, or to convey messages of “nothingness.” The new sizes 0 and 00 are evidence of this, as are many drugs in the mainstream media with the only purpose being weight loss. At the same time, women are oversexualized while eating food, and food is shown to be something we should be passionate about. These messages in the media are extremely contradictory, leading to confusing feelings about food and our bodies. The “Feminine” characteristics are looked down upon in the media. Men are pushed to be the complete opposite of femininity. Harsh, rigid, and strong. No time for compassion and empathy, as these traits are restricted to women only. Along with porn being mainstream, sexuality and violence are, unfortunately, very closely related in the media.
