To begin with, “Killings” is a short story by a French scribbler Andre Dubos. The story was first published in 1979, and was also made into a film, In the Bedroom, in 2001. The story itself takes places in a working class town, Where a couple’s son, Frank, is murdered, and the two must come to terms with both the psychological and emotional trauma of the horrific event, and decide what, if anything, they can do to ease their pain. The narrative opens during the funeral for twenty-one-year-old Frank Fowler. The funeral is attended by Frank’s family: his mother, Ruth, and father, Matt. His siblings, Steve and Cathleen, are also in attendance. Matt, on the other hand, was fine with his son’s relationship, though imagined him not to be too serious, as he would soon be going to grad school. As it turned out, Richard, a twenty-six-year-old was upset at the relationship between the younger Frank and Mary Ann, and wanted to get back together with her. Suddenly, one day Richard shoor Frank in his head and chest in the presence of his two kids and Mary Ann and eventually Frank dies. Though Richard was arrested for his doing but is successfully be able to walk out of jail on bail, awaiting for his trail. Main reason why the Richard was able to walk out on bail was first due to calling it an accident and second due to his family supporting his bail. Not to mention with but Richard’s family was rich and wealthy. They owned business and in the movie it is shown that richard was fired from his own family business and Frank used to work at his business.
