The focus of this book is for the author to attempt to bring to light what really happened and hopefully gain better understanding as to why it all took place. Cullen, a journalist, begins an extensive nine year research in order to achieve awareness of the happenings before, during and after this tragic event. Entries from the perpetrators personal journals, stories from the ones who witnessed the shootings first hand, countless interviews from the victim’s families, as well as multiple other pieces of information give the reader an extremely up close and personal surrounding Columbine.

Later Melinda befriends a girl named Heather, a new student at her school.
In the World War II book, My Real Name is Hanna by Tara Masih the author writes about Hanna’s family and their escape from the Germans and the Nazis in Ukraine. When things started to get worse, her family decided it was time to go and try to leave their home, but Hanna and her family need to know what is happening when in hiding, Hanna’s friend Yuri creates secret tree carvings to know what is going on or what Hanna’s family needs. They use one tree out in the middle of the woods. This is a unique trait because no one else in her family has any communication with the outside world and what is going on with the Germans. This makes Hanna and Yuri creative to make these messages which might risk it all for Hanna’s family.
