‘’Learning to Read’’ by Malcolm X
This is an autobiography of Malcolm’s life, where he educated himself through rigorous learning in prison. In his autobiography, the author believes to be established the importance of studying. Throughout the reading, there are also set of values that we can take into consideration such as self-education, the learning process in ourselves, the challenges that we need to overcome and the discipline to enhance the quality of our knowledge.
Malcolm opens up by linking his struggle in writing simple letters. ‘’I became increasingly frustrated, at not being able to express, what I wanted to convey’’ He describes his concern of not being able to articulate efficiently and introduces his point; lack of knowledge. He takes it as a challenge that he wants to overcome.
