Martin Luther King, Jr. attempts to persuade clergymen to follow in his civil rights movement through exhibiting his knowledge over just and unjust laws, displaying peaceful behavior, and empathetic diction. King was very knowledgeable about laws and his right as a human. King stated laws in his letter to the clergymen, which displayed his credibility. He did not only state laws, he also stated just and unjust laws. King stated, “How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?”
Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested and sent to jail on April 12th, 1963 because he and others were protesting the treatment of African Americans in Birmingham, Alabama. The court had ordered that King could not hold any protests in Birmingham. He was held for twenty-four hours without the right to contact a lawyer. When he was finally allowed contact with the outside world, he stumbled across a letter that was published in a newspaper. The letter criticized the protests and labeled them unwise.

To explore a writer’s identity in relation to the politics of language is the second learning goal. The goal wanted to analyze how language influences the writer’s identity. Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes could truly change someone 's perspective of their own life, and how they choose to judge other people’s lives. In life people tend to judge those they know nothing about. People tell us first impressions are always important because in that moment someone is going to decide whether they see you as a likeable person, or if you aren 't worth their time. From that moment on whether you talk to that person or if you never speak to them again they are going to judge what you do. For King and the rest of the black race in the United States, people didn 't give them the chance to be seen for who they are.

In the selected section from “Letter from Birmingham Jail”, Martin Luther King wants to abolish American’s segregation law. He divides all the laws into two categories. One is just law and the other one is unjust law. King indicates that the segregation law is an unjust law which seriously affects black people’s lives. I agree with King’s view on the segregation law.
An argument is made up of two aspects: premises and a conclusion. In many pieces of literature, even those primarily persuasive, the breaking down of these arguments can be unclear with each part being difficult to extract. When this happens, the magnitude of the logic or argument is lessened. In contrast, when the reasoning and conclusion of an argument are obvious, it leaves an impact on the reader that can be made in no other way.
