Reasonable judgement varies in accordance to each given situation. The judgement that Sam Johnson made was based on position and respect. In his “Letter to Madam” logos was used in order to formally deny the woman’s request. Johnson’s repudiation started when he stated “that this is something no man can do properly.” He bases this on the notion that he has no “particular relationship both to the Archbishop and the lady.” Johnson’s effective use of reasoning could best be defined as the way he responded to “Madam”.
