Interacting With Art Light Sculpture of Flames, created by teamLab in 2016, has the dimensions of 2500 mm in height, width, and depth. Crystal Universe, created by teamLab in 2015, involves the entire room. These pieces of art both utilize the effects of light, and the human interaction. One utilizes the interaction of a human by its proximity, by simply going near it. The closer you get to the art, the more the flame dances. This piece is constructed from the ceiling, giving it the appearance as if it were floating. Light Sculpture of Flames is created to give the appearance of an actual flame, something that most pieces of art cannot do. TeamLab states, “Most flames appear white at the center and red towards the outside, creating an appearance of layered colors, an effect that cannot be expressed with a solid three-dimensional object”. The times that these were made directly influences the artworks itself. As most people would say, “The future is now”, these pieces of art represent this. Art that incorporates interaction is surely something of the future. Although the art involving flames was made more recently, it does not incorporate the concept of the future as much as the art involving crystals that depict the universe, which was made a year before. The arts were made from a team, a collaborative art process made up of many artists, they are called teamLab. The artists focused on the concept of interacting with the viewers through art, hence the interactive art.
