Summary Of Maniac Magee Jerry Spinelli
In the book, Maniac Magee, Jerry Spinelli uses descriptive details, and actions to develop the main character, Maniac Magee. Jerry Spinelli developed Maniac to seem to be a very helpful person in the book. When maniac was living with the beales and Jerry Spinelli made Maniac do this action, “He carried out the trash…” This action showed that Maniac was a helpful person because he was helping Mrs. beale around the house. The next action that Mr. Spinelli gave maniac that showed Maniac was a helpful person was, “ mowed the grass, cleaned up his own spills…”
The author starts out stating that not much remains of Hugh Glass because after all, the only known direct source from Hugh Glass himself is a single letter. Because of this, not much is known about him, which the author states is why he chose him. No one knows of his opinions or his appearance. The only thing the author and other historians can definitely know for sure is that he had phenomenal survival skills. Hugh Glass was mauled by a female grizzly bear in the summer of 1823.
The author Laura Hillenbrand is an American author that wrote two best selling books Seabiscuit- An American Legend and Unbroken, the novel that I am reporting on. This author had chronic fatigue syndrome that she battled which forced her to drop out of college and through this experience, she became a writer. While criticized by family and friends for this, she marched on as a writer.
This completely lifted his confidence he could finally see that he was more than the troublemaker of his family. His success grew rather quickly, because his goal was to get to the next Olympic games. He is always training and training to keep improving. When it comes almost time to try out for the Olympic trials Louie knows that he will never be fast enough to qualify for the mile race he has been training for. Instead of giving up and calling it quits on his running career Louie takes a different approach.
In the natural, baseball is the main point of the whole movie. It is about a guy named Roy Hobbs, a small town guy, who is really good at baseball. No one knows his whereabouts and everyone wants to know “where the heck did this guy come from?”. He takes everyone by surprise by being really good, since he is a middle age man. He proves them all wrong when he starts winning games, which does not make the judge happy at all.
“Why I-I cannot give you his name.” This quote was made by Giles Corey in Act 3 of The Crucible. The quote was made by Giles showed his loyalty by not giving up a name in court when he promised he would not. Giles Corey was an 83 year old man who lived in Salem. He was known for suing many people to retrieve their land.
Mankiller’s autobiography is Mankiller is writing about herself and she is writing about her personal experiences that help develop her thoughts and actions in life. She also writes about the history of indigenous people and the “Indian Island.” The last thing that was included in the autobiography was Mankiller expresses her feelings and thoughts. Meanwhile, the biography is written by Abbey talking about Mankiller. One thing Abbey talks about was Mankiller’s childhood, her leadership abilities, and Mankiller’s quotes from her autobiography adding her opinions of Mankiller’s character.
Oddly enough we all assume that behind prison walls there is an element of misery and gloom to all the prisoners who are incarcerated there. In San Quentin Giants, by Clayton Worfolk, we see a different side of prison life that doesn’t portray the convicted murderers as harshly as most modern movies or documentaries. I give San Quentin Giants a big thumbs up. In this short movie that thoroughly uses scene, lighting, space and characters to take viewers on a walk through the incarcerated world that unexpectedly hits your conceptions of a maximum security prison right out of the ball park.
Morgan Cook Unbroken Book Review 1/16/18 Mrs. Campbell Honors Literature PD 1 “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand was published in 2010. From the first chapter i was hooked. Hillenbrand’s imagery and style caught my eye and pulled me into Louie’s story with no hesitation. I absolutely loved Hillenbrand’s structure in this book and it was much better than others i have read.

Jones knew she wanted to go to the Olympics at a young age. Marion would eventually get her chance to be an Olympian. Although, it might not turn out the way she’d planned.
The scent of hot dogs, the crack of the ball off the bat, and umpires hollering “strike” are just a few memories one will have after attending a baseball game. America’s game is filled with many sensory details, which is why it is so appealing to many spectators, as well as players. The massive fences in the outfield seem daunting up close; the players seem to whip the ball effortlessly, but with extraordinary speed. Spectator’s noses will be filled with baseball smells such as sunflowers seeds, which everyone seems to be chewing, or the perfume of fresh cut outfield grass. The home fans will be cheering with optimism despite the score.
Unbroken is the best word that can be used to describe Louie Zamperini. In the book Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, there are three other adjectives that can be used to describe Louie Zamperini, the main character. These adjectives are determined, compassionate, and defiant. These attributes can be proven through not only Louie’s actions, but his thoughts as well. These are the three different characteristics of Louie.
It is quite common in our life that when people are admiring a movie star, when would try their best to mimic his actions. For example, people would imitate his ways of walking or his accents when he is talking. Or, when we are talking to somebody, if his ways of talking or some of actions are really similar to us, we would feel affection from him or her. Why would this kind of situation happen? An experiment which perfectly showed this phenomenon was done by Chartrand and Bargh in 1999, who showed there is a natural tendency for people to mimic other people’s behaviors which is known as Chameleon Effect.
It just like every other sport out there. One plus side to running is it could help you stay in shape today and in the future.
