223 Words1 Pages
Jacques Romain uses communist propaganda and religion validation in the novel Masters of the Dew to promote communism. This is not done by fate because he is indeed a communist and wants to publicize what he believes in. In promoting communism, it is substantial to solve problems dealing with division and individuality. For instance, the main character’s name, Manuel means Manual in English. This is important because Manual means hands on labor or instruction book. In this case, the main character is the guide or instruction book, therefore the peasants in the novel follow him. Manuel in Latin is translated as hand, fist, and force. Manuel talks about how strong a fist is when fingers are brought together in comparison to when they are not.
