We have all fallen and tripped over life’s tricky obstacles before, but we have decided to get back on my feet to face what the world still has in store for me. Everyone has their struggles and hardships, but defeating the demons that keep torturing our lives like an endless nightmare, is one massive mission to complete. However, we seem to run away from those haunting demons, but sometimes the only way out of the mess is to fight them. Some people have worked their way up, starting from the hard, cold trail of dirt and debris and ending up conquering the world. The tacks on the stair represent the points in her life that had sharply affected her: the points where she had to step on to move ahead. In her life, she has gotten splinters that hurt her on the inside and outside. Removing some problems with one quick wave of a wand is not possible, but she had to take the time to solve it. The more problems that created, the more difficult it was for her to find an answer to it. For example, the disease of racial discrimination was widely spread back in the 1900s, and no matter where she goes, the feeling of being unwelcome is harsh and terrible. When she grew older, so did the boards on the stair, which meant that she has traveled the same path of misery, but it led her to nowhere. She has walked barefoot in “places with no carpet on the floor”, which meant that she took roads that were not smooth. Instead, they were unpleasant and uneven.
