356 Words2 Pages
The essay “Night Owl” by Anne Fadiman is a narrative about being a night owl. It begins by Fadiman comparing her sleep patterns to her husband’s. She goes on to describe different aspects of sleep schedules, specifically those of night owls. She writes about scientific studies done on them, famous authors writings about the night, and societal pressures to wake up early and go to bed early. Part way through Fadiman’s essay she tells the story of one night when she was camping on the Tasman Glacier with a friend. She concludes her essay by saying ,”Good night”. I enjoy and relate to this essay on many accounts. Firstly, I am also a night owl, like the author. I find that I have trouble waking up early or going to bed before midnight. Also like
