Elizabeth Kübler-Ross is one of the most influential writers in loss after the release of her book On Death and Dying in 1969 (Busby, 2009). In this, Kübler-Ross introduced her five stage theory on grief. The five stages are; Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. Although Kübler-Ross constructed this theory around someone coming to terms with an illness, it can also be applied to loss and the death of a loved one.
