Whether if you like historical fiction or not, this is a total masterpiece that you shouldn't miss. This, is Prisoner B-3087 by Alan Gratz. It took place between the darkest years of Europe - 1933 to 1945. Starting the late 1930s’, the Nazi Party led by Adolf Hitler seized neighbouring countries such as Austria and Poland. It triggered the World War II, but there were hardly any Jews left in Europe after this terrible war. The main character in this story, Yanek, lost his parents and friends after he was caught. He survived all the terrible concentration camps, prisoner walk (which means that they had to walk from one camp to another) and death camps. Additionally, I eventually bought a few books about it afterwards. It led me to a better understanding of this historical event, racism, wars, policial and the livelihood in the 1930st. Besides, I realized that I was burning with curiosity to history that one-third of my bookshelf is related to the WW2 - I used to loathe it! It wasn't just as simple as a random book you find on the historical fiction shelves, but those that you find on the recommendation shelves. I was fascinated because of these few reasons: First of all, it clearly described the emotions of Yanek using first-person-view and the harsh life in the story You might think that it is extremely heart wrenching that it wasn't suitable for children, however, in my opinion, this book taught me that hope was a crucial key to survive under these conditions. Yanek encouraged himself that he could get over it. There was a quote in the book, 'My heart was thumping, but it made me feel alive, and feeling alive made me want to stay
