In the story by Toni Morrison, Recitatif tells the story of a complicity between two girls and their friendship. These girls both have different racial differences within the story. Toni Morrison short story basically depends on the cultural hardship of America in the 1950’s. The major point or theme of this essay is based on character, Narration and point of view. Recitatif was a story about orphan who lived in a shelter called St.Bonny’s and her experience being an orphan. This story is being told as first person point of view because Twyla one of the main character is explaining and telling her story of being in an orphanage of her own perspective. The character of this story was as if they can actually be realistic. They showed action, feelings, and communication towards each other. The characters also amazed me because of their bravery and improvement of their actions. The characters were all interesting to analyze and understand their positions. Throughout the story Morrison gives away a few hints of their racial characteristics. It allows you to understand that there is an African American and a White person, the tricky part is that there is important information left out that doesn't allow you to identify which is which. The racial stereotypes give you hints when twyla describes her roommate; roberta a if she were a whole different race from hers, “they never washed their hair and smelled funny. Roberta sure did” (Morrison 199) Roberta has crazy hair that didn't allow twyla to see her face. Throughout the story both girls life changed twyla is a worker in a dinner, she notices roberta in a table with two other boys. She talks to her right after her shift is over, this is where the readers get confused because twyla lives in a lower class neighborhood while roberta is in an upper class neighborhood (203-205). Many people tend to change their perspective towards them because white have money and blacks don't so that means that robert is white and twya is black but this racial differences are never defined. Roberta is an example of indirect character since the narrator shows how roberta acts and how she basically is as a person. Twyla is a direct character because she narrates the story telling us how a character is and changes throughout the story. The two girls are as well dynamic characters because they both change throughout their childhood to their adulthood.Twyla is a round character because she did change a lot of her perspective towards the maggie incident. In other words roberta is flat because
