Dwight Okita and Sandra Cisneros are both very influential writers. When writing both of their stories "Response to Executive Order 9066" and "Mericans" they were influenced by the American culture. Both of the authors were trying to establish what the meaning of American Identity is. Okita's poem shows how people are interacting with culture not where they come from.
