Imagine waking up in a hospital all alone, with no one around. What is running through someone’s head? As they awake they are confused and barely have memory as to what happened. They take a walk looking for help, when they come across dead bodies. Beginning to panic, they get it together and wonder around the building. Reaching the doors to the real world, they proceed out into a deserted town. With a million thoughts running through their head, they are thinking of their family. Are their loved ones okay? As they begin to wonder if a life threatening event occurred, they calm theirslef down. Do they continue to fight or give up? Would you sacrifice your life to protect your loved ones? People may back out and not believe that anyone will ever survive. However, those survivors with strong psychological skills come up with plans to protect everyone. According to Kirkman, a blow to the head will damage the zombie’s brain, killing them (Kirkman). They are known to be slow, so running away from one isn’t the problem, it’s running away from hundreds (Kirkman). However, a survivor will need a lot of gear. They will have to risk their life to go get supplies, which has to be done in order to survive. An example in The Walking Dead is when the boy and Rick go into the city to break into a gun store. They rubbed smelly guts on their self to fit in. (Kirkman) This shows that people will do anything to survive. Whether people can shoot a gun or not they need to learn to survive. In The Walking Dead, some characters can’t shoot; however, they need to have a gun. With a gun they would be able to fire right at a zombie if attacked. An example in The Walking Dead, was when Rick’s son saved his wife from a zombie. (Kirkman) This proves that everyone deserves to carry a gun no matter the age, everyone can protect someone in danger. Survivors will have to brave and have a survival mind-set in order to protect their self and others. However, giving up on family is the last thing someone should be thinking about, yes, they may not be alive. Deep down a survivor has to find them, dead or alive. Although, a survivor may be scared and full of fear, according to, “The Survival Mindset,” one should count their blessings and be grateful they are alive, yes it’s during a zombie apocalypse, but they could be transformed into a zombie? Survivors are given the chance to fight and survive, finding their family and living through this life threatening event. They have to sacrifice their life, giving it their all to find them. Being alone in a deserted place surrounded by dead bodies and zombies will leave a person frighten, but they have to remember that this could be the end and they have to fight like hell to the finish if they ever want to see their loved ones again. The Walking Dead does a great job in providing threatening situations happening to Rick; however, the comic book shows his bravery. A survivor must be brave and determined to survive has to brave a zombie
