Monster" by Sanyika Shakur is his autobiography of his life growing up in the Crips street gang in South Central, LA, where it is almost impossible to avoid getting involved with gangs. He talks about his early childhood when he was just a normal kid living with his mom and stepdad and his siblings, joining the Crips, killing people, selling and using drugs, getting shot, becoming a father at the age of sixteen, serving time in juvenile detention centers and prisons, and leaving the gang life to raise his children and become a Black Nationalist.
