In the book Pop, by Gordon Korman, the main character Marcus Gordon is new to the town. This football practitioner receives help from a former NFL linebacker, Charlie Popovich. The King of Pop teaches the rookie how to tackle hard and the fact why a 50 plus year NFL expert is helping a teenager with practice intrigues him. Along with some odd actions of Charlie's, Marcus does some research and results in learning that Charlie has Alzheimer's disease. Knowing that his poor friend cannot fend for himself, Marcus starts to do what is good for the linebacker, not caring about all the trouble he tackles along the way.
In the novel Schooled, by Gordan Korman, the extraordinary character, Capricorn Anderson experiences many changes. At the beginning of the novel, Cap’s grandmother, and home school teacher, falls out of a plum tree so Cap has to go to an ordinary school. At first Cap is bullied because he has lived on Garland farms which is a foundation for hippies, who live there life like they did in the sixties. But he then becomes the most popular kid in school by a few exquisite affairs.
In the novel Schooled, by Gordon Korman, Capricorn Anderson changes from a 13 year old home-schooled hippie who lived in a community called Garland Farms to the most popular boy in the entire school in an unexpected way. The reason why this is a big deal is because Garland farms is a community where only hippies (Cap and his grandmother rain) live. They tend to not do anything in the outside world, except go grocery shopping. Cap is home-schooled, does not go to the outside world often and he hardly knows what anything in the outside world is.
Today, you either get educated or you get stuck in a dead-end job without much prospect for the future. The gap between those with a higher education and those without one is becoming wider with advancements in technology and the growing competitiveness of the job market. There are many dangers of this gap. One such danger is the people who have a higher educations having the leisure to ignore those who are less educated. The book is “Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto. The author states that Victor says “Teresa is going to be my girl this year, he promised himself as he left the gym full of students in their new fall clothes” (Soto1). In this story, one key event is clear from the following quote, “Without looking at Mr. Bueller, Victor mumbled, “Frenchie oh wewe gee in September.” (Soto5) That Victor doesn't know how to speak French. In “I Just Wanna Be Average,” Mike Rose explains the experience being part of a school system that had no prior knowledge to have educators to teach students. Rose supports his claims by describing the different situations he had to encounter with the lack of the school system, the hopelessness of the teachers and his peers, that lead those students with no support to lead them in a direction of success. Rose purpose is to point out that; all that it was needed was a teacher that cared enough to teach and to influence those students to succeed and to never hinder the student’s learning experience because anything is possible with an little of an encouragement. The novel Schooled by Gordon Korman is a fantastically fabulous story. The main character is named Capricorn Anderson or Cap for short. He is a flower child,or hippie, and to his luck,Cap gets dropped in the real world at a real school for the first time because his grandmother, Rain,broke her hip. This caused Cap to drive her to the hospital where they said that Cap couldn’t go back to Garland,( The alternative farm commune that Rain has owned since the 60’s to keep the ways of the hippies alive for all this time.)Cap is very different from the other students at C Average because he practices tai chi, a kind martial arts,hadn’t heard of most modern technologies,or wedgies,and is filled with hippie wisdom,causing him to be like an alien compared to the other students. Fortunately, like anyone in a new area,he adapts and changes even in his two month stay.
Against School by John Gatto is an essay that attempts to persuade the reader that public education fails to educate its students. The main way Gatto tries to persuade his audience is by presenting anecdotal evidence and by showing the historical narrative to the education system of the Untied States. Gatto attempts also attempts to reach out to his audience by referring to commonalities in the public education system that have been experienced by many people. Overall the essay is persuasive but lacks any practical authority. The first thing the author does is provide background, background on himself and the situation with education in the United States; and, this is what the author primarily does.

First. the author talks about how the school system creates boredom and what could be done to fix it. He then talks about how school is not needed in its required class times, what the schools say the goals are for the students, and where our school system originated from.
Maturity is the feeling of needing to prove that one is sophisticated and old enough to do certain things. In the short story “Growing Up,” Maria’s family went on a vacation while she stayed at home, but when she heard there was a car crash that happened near where her family was staying, she gets worried and thinks it is all her fault for trying to act mature and angering her father. I chose the book by Neila Connors, If you Don’t Feed the Teachers, They Eat the Students!:Guide to Success for Administrators and Teachers to review. The book is an easy read and is refreshing in its approach as a guide for administrators. The author uses cooking metaphors to offer some practical advice on how to be an effective leader. Although the tone of the book is light and funny, it does a good job addressing the serious task that all school principals face, creating a positive and encouraging environment for teachers. As the book emphasizes the teachers are the foundation of the school, unhappy staff will not produce successful students.
