The college football player has gained vast popularity among Americans over the past years. The result of this has increased the amount of money the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) profits. The athletes bring insuperable amount of money and recognition to their university. So why aren’t they being rewarded for what their time commitment? Most college players do not have time to get a job because they have to practice, go to class, and have to meet later for study hall. Some of those athletes do not have financial support from their families. So this is their way of making money. For example a college football player name Shawn Oakman played football at Penn State. He said, “There were nights he went to sleep hungry because he had no money for food.” So it was rather you go to sleep hungry or you go find something to eat, but his way of getting food was to go to the store and steal food. Most college players struggle with this problem. They feel the need to find a way to earn money but if they get paid or a receive a stipend then that would help prevent this problem. Many players rely on college football in the hopes of going to the NFL to help their families because they come from financially unstable background so they are trying to find a way to provide for their family. Think about it even though some players receive scholarship when they go back home they have no stable income, so they should at least receive something to help their families.
