The video I fond online was a reading of “Square Cat” by Elizabeth Schoonmaker at the Wilkinson Public Library of Telluride. It’s a modern day tale about a cat who is a square and tries to fit into society. At the end of the story, it gave a list of reasons why “square cats” are amazing. The adults were all smiling and looked like they were very happy to be there. I think this made the children very happy to be there and helped promote a happy learning environment. The reader read the book in an excited voice during the whole story except when it was the story was sad she still read it in a very positive tone as if she was excited to be reading and engaged in the story. After the story was over they all started to sing “Old McDonald” with puppets. They all sang together because the children all already knew the song. They had all of the animals that went along with the song. I don’t understand why they sang this song right after reading the book because I believe it did not have anything to do with the book. It did keep the children entertained while they finished up their time. By the readers singing the song right after the story the children did not have time to start misbehaving. Overall, this story was very well done and I believe it teaches children a very important lesson about finding what it is to make them
