Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard was published in September 2011. This novel is based on Biography on the life of President James Garfield’s assassination and the medical bungling that led to his death at the age of 49. It is a fascinating look at a period of neglected American history. The author explains the reality of the incidents that had occurred to James Garfield the struggles that he had faced throughout the time that he was alive. James A. Garfield may have been the most remarkable man ever elected president.
By reading The Wave by Todd Strasser, chapter 1 to 5 (pg.1-40), I really interested about (Chapter 2) what Amy asks Ben in the history class, why there’s no Germans didn’t stop the Nazis from killing Jewish? Ben says that after the war, many German people said that they don’t know what Hitler was doing. A lot of students (include me) don’t understand how German people said that they don’t know, it’s a very big event happen at that time period, how could they don’t know! (Chapter 4) Ben tries to help the students more understand about the Nazis and German people, so he thinks that why don’t let the students taste of what life in Nazi Germany.
Star Wars involves a lot of shooting and running, and is about good guys versus bad guys. So does “The Most Dangerous Game.” With the Star Wars franchise, we don’t have to worry about things being changed from text to film because it was a film first. In most cases, things are dropped and others are added when a written work is turned into a movie.
Luke’s Mom is a country woman who runs the family farm. She is very protective over Luke and encourages him to quit bull riding. She tells him that bull riding isn't worth the money and that she would much rather lose the farm over losing him.
In Chapter 7, we learned that if power and jobs are shared in small groups, rather than one person holding all of the power and responsibility, leadership can be shared, decisions can be made as a team, and groups may end up feeling more satisfied. The connection that I can make to Lusus Naturae a connection with the book/ film franchise Star Wars. The comparison that I can make between these two stories is in the similarities between the townspeople/ the protagonists family and the xenophobic Galactic Empire that is present in the Star Wars series. The first comparison I can make is in the similarities of the “reasonable” actions that both factions commit in order to protect themselves. In Lusus Naturae, to avoid the shame of having a diseased daughter, and all the nuisances that came with it, the protagonist’s family decided it would be easier to “kill her off” in order to avoid the ongoing shame that she apparently caused them.
Topic: In Building American Identity unit four was about the tragic hero. Developing Sentences: The tragic hero is usually seen as a person in power, which persuades the idea that the hero is a king or queen. Yet, the tragic hero can be a normal person, which develops the image of a hero who does what they think is needed. The hero takes a path that they believe is right, which suggests that the consequence that happens is tragic.
In the film adaptation of the novel, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, some of the original aspects that make the novel so timeless are not included in the movie. However, due to the vastly different medium that film is and the abstractness of the novel, it makes sense why some things would have to change in order for the story to transfer to the screen successfully. While many die-hard fans of the novel denounce the film version of their beloved story, others celebrate the presence of Adams’ wit in the movie especially through the cartoon representations of the guide entries. First of all, the Hitchhiker’s Guide is pictured much differently in the movie than in the novel.
In Star Wars IV New Hope you see several things that are like our world. Like how people negotiate business deals with each other. In the video, Han Soto reminds me of a used car salesman. Trying to convince you that this vehicle is a life changer with stories about how great it is. It sounds all good until he tells you the ridiculous price.

The plot is so simple and concise that almost no exposition is required for the movie to explain itself, because everything is already explained. The Phantom Menace starts with two Jedi talking about a trade dispute with the Trade Federation, right off the bat this is incredibly dull for a Si-Fi movie for kids. The plot then falls into a continuous loop of a minute of action and then ten minutes of exposition, resulting in a boring plot and meaningless action.
Guardians of the Galaxy is a Marvel team super hero film. Nonetheless, it is controversial to the audience whether it fits the sub-genre of a team-up film such as The Avengers. Due to the characters, none of them have their individual movie like Iron Man. However, James Gunn uses points of view and actor’s acting to enhance the intimacy among the characters that makes this movie fits into the team super hero film genre. In addition, Gunn uses makeups to not make any of the roles too standout because they all have unique appearances that balance out on screen.

A textbook example of this is the animated television show The Clone Wars (Dave Filoni, George Lucas 2008-2015). This show fits chronologically between the second and third ‘prequel’ movies Attack of the Clones (George Lucas, 2002) and Revenge of the Sith (George Lucas, 2005). The show bridged the time gap between the two movies, allowing dedicated viewers to fill in the gaps that the original story left and learn a more detailed story. It also bridged the generation gap for viewers, as Star Wars fans are typically older, or young adults, as that is when the movies originally came out. This show is animated and intended for children, allowing the franchise to hook younger viewers, as well as providing more engaging narrative for the very active audiences who tend to consume all the content they can find (Loads 2014).
